CROWNS AND BRIDGES

MAINTAIN THE HEALTH AND INTEGRITY OF YOUR SMILE WITH CROWNS AND BRIDGES!

Tooth enamel is one of the sturdiest materials in the human body, but due to tooth decay or weak internal structure, sometimes teeth are prone to chipping or cracking. When this occurs, at MY SMILE DOCTORS we utilise porcelain crowns or bridges in order to ensure the structural integrity of your tooth.

DENTAL CROWNS!

A Dental Crown is one of the most effective ways to strengthen a tooth that has lost much of its durability. In this sense, a crown is used as a ‘cap’ to place over the damaged tooth and protect it from further damage.

DENTAL BRIDGES!

A dental bridge is commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. A non-surgical alternative to Dental Implants, bridges allow us to literally ‘bridge the gap’ left by missing teeth.

Dental Crowns Sydney

Dental Crowns are to protect a weak tooth that suffers from decay, breaking or injury. A crown covers the tooth and supports the tooth with a large filling and used when there is not much of a tooth to save. A broken tooth can be restored to look and feel as though it is a natural tooth. Crowns can also be used to hold a dental bridge in place, as well as to support a discoloured teeth or to cover a dental implant.

Crowns can also be used to cover damaged baby teeth to save the tooth that has been damaged by decay.

There are different types of crowns available that include stainless steel, metals and porcelain fused to metal, all resin, all ceramic or all porcelain.

Dental Bridges Sydney

A Dental Bridge is placed to bridge the gap that is created due to one or more missing teeth. Two or more crowns are placed on the surround teeth and are the anchor teeth to fit a false tooth or teeth in between.

A Dental Bridge is placed to:
  • To bring back your smile to your brilliant natural smile
  • Provide the support necessary to speak properly and eat.
  • To create the support needed so that your face does not go out of shape from missing teeth.
  • To support your bite so that you can chew and speak properly.
  • To keep the proper bone structure of your remaining teeth so that they do no move out of position.
Is There More Than One Type of Dental Bridge?

Traditional bridges are to replace a missing tooth and involve fabricating a crown for the implant or tooth on the teeth that surround the gap. I pontic is then positioned between them. Of the different types of bridges, the most common are the traditional bridges, which can be made of ceramics or porcelain fused to metal.

Cantilever bridges are another type of bridge and are placed when the gap where the missing tooth or teeth once were only, have teeth on one side of it. This is not a type of crown that is recommended in the back of the mouth where strong support is necessary due to chewing and the force of the teeth and structure of the bone.

Maryland bonded bridges, also referred to as a resin bonded bridge, are fabricated from porcelain, plastic gums and teeth or porcelain fused to metal. This is the least common type of the bridge and one with porcelain or metal wings on the sides of the bridge and bonded to the remaining teeth.
